Kind and Gentle Christ

Kind and gentle Christ, meek and lowly Lamb —

Ever careful, e’en in anger righteous —

Embodied steadfast love of great I AM

Humbled to the point of death for us.

Lord of lepers, the Son of Man draws near

And reaches for those desiring His touch.

Broken flesh meets Christ clothed in weakness here,

Brought low for both Jew and Samaritan.

Beloved by children, friend to outcast,

Warmly calling all to His embrace,

Off’ring pasture and a lighter yoke at last

If we would lift our eyes to seek His face:

Father-sent, Spirit-held, and sacrificed

Holy Son of God, kind and gentle Christ.
